In Grammar, we will be learning about Action Verbs this week. Action Verbs show action. They tell what the subject of a sentence does. Here are a couple of examples:
1. Jose plays soccer at recess.
2. Eli writes wonderful stories.
In Sentence 1, plays is the action verb. The word plays tells us what Jose does. He plays soccer. In Sentence 2, writes is the action verb. The word writes tells us what Eli does. He writes stories.
Some action verbs tell about actions that are hard to see. For example,
Eli'Jah thinks about what to do next.
In this sentence, thinks is the action verb. It tells us what Eli'Jah is doing. Other action verbs tell about feelings. For example,
Jarett likes to play outside.
In this sentence, likes is the action verb. It tells us how Jarett feels about playing outside.
